Watercolor, 22″ x 26″. This painting was inspired by a visit to the Last Chance Mine in Creede, Colorado. While there I was I noticed the large wall on which hung old rusted objects or relics from the past. The composition and rich color of the rusted relics was what captured my eye and I said to myself, ” I want to paint this wall and express the color and unique character of this wall. ” After doing my layout drawing I used the pouring method for putting down three to four layers with each layer being a different value. Once complete and fully dried, I removed the masking fluid and added details to further enrich the color and shadows.
