Live Edge Floating Shelf by Grant Morris

From: Intemann Gallery at the Manitou Art Center

Bristlecone Pine, Amazonite: 37″x 6″ x 7D

One of one, live edge, bristlecone pine, shelf. This piece of wood was collected above 10,000’ at an extreme location in Colorado. The floating shelf is hand made and comes with the hanging bracket hardware required to hang your self. The art has an amazonite stone which I collected shaped and polished. The burn appears to be the result of a lightning strike, as I collected in an area that was free of past forest fires. No stain was used; color is natural and the wood is sealed with mineral oil. Length is 37″ and shelf depth averages 4″.

Bristlecone Pine is the oldest living tree on earth and grows in extreme locations in the mountains of the southwest (to include where I live). They grow about 1/100 of an inch in girth per year. I do not collect living trees and consider Bristlecone as extremely rare.
