The Tag that Started it All.

One thing we love about Manitou Springs is that our people put their stamp on things without even trying.

We wanted to make it official.

Manitou Made began in 2018 as a collaborative project of the Manitou Springs Creative District, the Manitou Springs Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau and the Leadership Pikes Peak, signature Class of 2019. Together, we set out to highlight our vivacious community of local makers, bakers, artists, designers, and entrepreneurs.

We created a brand for the goods and services unique to the Manitou Springs region and a tag for merchants to mark their original creations. We think the Manitou Made brand fits best on a tag attached to something uniquely offered to you — a work of art, an expertly delivered service, an unforgettable Manitou Springs experience.

There’s something special about knowing your baker, your candle maker, your skin care maker, your chocolate maker, your comfort food maker, your barista and your local brew master. Buying local is a chance to support and meet talented artisans and small business owners who take great pride in their work. It’s human. It’s real. And, it’s a great way to experience handmade, one-of-a kind and meaningful gifts, while also supporting a community.

Finding Hope in Hardship

When times get tough, we look to our strengths.

To address the COVID-19 pandemic, we saw the potential to showcase our creative industries by expanding the Manitou Made program beyond in-store branding with an online presence.

With CARES Act funding from El Paso County, we created not just a multi-vendor marketplace, but a learning community dedicated to resilience, adaptation, and the kind of can-do attitude that has helped our community weather wildfires, floods, and now a global pandemic.

What better way to showcase that kind of care and community spirit?

With Manitou Made, we intend to show the world that even in the face of hardship and disaster, Manitou Springs embraces partnership and creativity.
