Fish Sculpture, Maui Koa Wood, Turquoise; Fossilized Ammonite Base; Cherokee made

From: Natural Cherokee

Atsadi (Fish) Hand sculptured Koa wood collected at Turnbull Studio and Gallery, Maui. Steve Turnbull was nice enough to give a fellow artist a piece of leftover Koa from one of his larger sculptures. The color of the art is natural and is accented with turquoise inlay. Fish displays beautifully on either side. The base is fossilized ammonite from a cretaceous sea dating from 66 to 144 million years ago. I collected the fossil near Ft Worth, TX. Signed with my hallmark.

Koa wood is highly regarded and it is precious because it can only be found in Hawaii. Its beauty and rarity make koa among the most expensive woods in the world
