Why Manitou Springs Loves Them

Mary Madison has a fascinating background, and set of skills, including as the author of Plantation Slave Weavers Remember – An Oral History. She has a strong foundation in organization development and corporate consulting, which she has been able to apply in her work with Textiles West and the Manitou Art Center. Her work with the Veteran Healing projects in fiber arts is also noteworthy.

It’s impressive that Mary teaches a wide variety of classes to many Makerspace members, especially with the added benefit of free membership through their library card. She teaches classes on a range of topics related to fiber arts, including different types of weaving, quilted vessels and wall hangings, punch needle artwork, and even porcelain doll-making and pet urns.
